Supply of Chemicals

Gulf Dam Engineering & Services, LLC. (“Gulf Dam”) is providing primary drilling chemicals for onshore drilling operations in Oman. This entails meeting technical, safety, and logistical requirements because of the demanding environment and the nature of drilling operations. Here is an outline of the main considerations and commonly used chemicals:

Gulf Dam services are a crucial component of operators’ programs for successful drilling, completion, and maintenance of wells, adhering to the highest safety and environmental regulations standards.

Key Drilling Chemicals

  • Barite (Barium Sulfate):
Used to increase the density of drilling fluids, which helps control formation pressures and stabilize the wellbore.
  • Barite (Barium Sulfate):
Used to increase the density of drilling fluids, which helps control formation pressures and stabilize the wellbore.
  • Barite (Barium Sulfate):
Used to increase the density of drilling fluids, which helps control formation pressures and stabilize the wellbore.
  • Lime (Calcium Hydroxide):
Used for pH control and to reduce corrosion and formation damage.
  • Polymers (e.g., Xanthan Gum, PAC):
Used for viscosity control, reducing fluid loss, and stabilizing the borehole.
  • Drilling Detergents and Surfactants:
Improve mud lubricity, reduce torque and drag, and minimize stuck pipe issues.
  • Lost Circulation Materials (LCMs):
Mica, nutshells, and fibrous materials to seal fractures and prevent mud loss.
  • Potassium Chloride (KCl):
Inhibits shale swelling and stabilizes clays.
  • Calcium Carbonate:
Used for fluid loss control and as a weighting agent in certain formulations.
  • Additional chemicals:
Are also sourced and supplied as per customer requirements.

Key Considerations for Supply

  • Quality and Compliance:
All chemicals must comply with international standards (API, ISO) and Omani regulations for oilfield chemicals.
  • Local Sourcing and Import Regulations:
Understand Omani import regulations, duties, and required permits or certifications.
  • Logistics and Supply Chain: Efficient supply chain management to ensure timely delivery to remote drilling sites, considering road, port, and warehousing facilities.
  • Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Standards:
Suppliers must adhere to strict HSE protocols, including safe handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals.
  • Technical Support and Field Services:
Providing on-site technical support for formulation adjustments and troubleshooting.
